Group Chat Knows is an SMS-based place recommendation service. We capture the restaurants, bars, cafes, and places your friends actually love — and make them searchable anytime, over text message.

No app to download. No feed to scroll. No anonymous reviews. Just real recommendations from the people you trust.

The company

How it works

Text our number a place you love — a restaurant name, a photo, or a Google Maps link. We verify it against Google Maps, save it to your personal network, and make it searchable by the people you've invited.

When you need a recommendation, just text a question: "best coffee in Brooklyn" or "somewhere for dinner in the East Village." We search your trusted network's saved places and send back ranked results — instantly, over SMS.

Our principles

Trust is the product. No paid placements, no AI-invented recommendations, no fake reviews. Every recommendation comes from a real person in your network. If we don't have an answer, we say so honestly.

Privacy first. Your recommendations are only visible to the people you've explicitly connected with. We never sell data or share your information for marketing purposes.

SMS messaging

The consent checkbox on our signup page reads, in full:

"I agree to receive conversational SMS messages from Office of Special Projects LLC (Group Chat Knows) related to my use of the service. Messages I may receive include: (1) a one-time signup verification code, (2) confirmations after a place I sent in is saved, (3) brief follow-up questions about places I save (for example, 'what would you tell a friend?'), and (4) results when I query the system. I will not receive marketing, promotional, automated alerts, or third-party messages. Message frequency varies based on my activity. Message and data rates may apply. I can reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help."

The checkbox is unchecked by default; the "Send verification code" button is disabled until the user checks it.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
